Kasi Martin is the founder of The Peahen, a site that brings truth telling and intellect back to fashion.
She is a fast-fashion burnout who used to buy clothes frequently, cheaply, and for one purpose – to follow trends. But as a fierce questioner and journalist, she started poking holes in her habits and learned her consumption and the fashion industry were wreaking havoc on the earth and people. Frustrated with the look of ‘alternative’ fashion, Kasi made it her mission to put modern, ethical designers and brands on the mainstream consumers’ radar. She’s intent on creating lasting change in fashion and thinks it doesn’t end with consumer action. It also requires transformation within major fashion companies governmental support.
Kasi writes guides, opinions, and interviews to raise awareness for the issues in fashion and features ethical and sustainable designers and influencers who share in her mission.
Kasi is an accomplished public speaker and has given lectures at TEDx, Global Sustainable Fashion Week and local panels in her hometown of Austin, Texa, where she is active in the budding ethical fashion community. She is also the co-founder of Fashion Revolution Day ATX.
